I have a problem with a hdlc connection flapping in a back to
back configuration between two routers in my home lab.
I have a S1 on R1 to S1 on R2, R2 is the DCE interface and the clock rate is
set to 64k. I am using the default hdlc encapsulation here so this is a very
simple set up. Even if
I use different back to back cables the result is the same.
(these cables work fine on my router that I use for frame
relay switch). Results of the sh controller command do not
reveal anything unusual.
Changing the encapsulation to ppp has no effect except that
it does not flap, line protocol still down. I guess ppp is a little smarter
than hdlc.
Anyone have a similar experience?
Here are the configs:
R1: interface Serial1
ip address 200.20.20.1 255.255.255.0
no ip directed-broadcast
clockrate 64000
R2: interface Serial1
ip address 200.20.20.2 255.255.255.0
no ip directed-broadcast
