I have to agree, this doesn't work for me either. The only way I can get
area range to work is if the router is an ABR, this can be accomplished with
a virtual link though. It doesn't work on an ASBR either, unless the router
is an ABR as well.

It doesn't seem to work for me in 12.1(5)T10 - nothing happens. I did a
debug of everything OSPF and reset the process, also tried a reboot. The
command seems to be ignored when used in this way.
