All,
Thanks for all people who contribute to this list by posting
questions and answers. I found this list is very helpful.
I took the test in San Jose on last Saturday, March 9, 2002. The
instructors were very very nice. One of them I forget his name,
Sektran or...? but another proctor was Billal Khawaja. They are not only
helpful, but also very nice !!!.
The test was doable, but I missed one question that made me feel
that I would not pass it. Before lunch, I was done with my routing and
they were working fine, and I had about three questions left. But about 4
PM, I checked my routing table again, and found some routes were missing in
my routing table. Wow..where were they gone ? I always calm during the
test, but fixing this routing and trying to find out the answer about that
strange question made me slightly nervous. Actually I knew the answer to
that question, I have seen it somewhere. But I don't know why in the test I
was very reluctant to apply that quite lengthy process. I left the testing
room by thinking that I will not pass.
The night after that, I could not sleep and kept thinking about
that question and really regretted for the stupid mistake that I made. I
was staying in Marriott Hotel and that I night I decided to watch Harry
Potter but it just helped me for a while. I think I smoked another box of
Marlboro until I slept on 2 AM. It was bad since I had an early flight at 6
AM to Houston.
This morning I got an email from Cisco saying that I passed the
lab. Oalaa..I am very happy and jumped around the offices.
I will take a rest for a while and after this I plan to move to Network
Security (most likely SANS and CISSP) and UNIX (Sun certification). I
already left my beloved FreeBSD and Linux for two years and try to dedicate
myself to study Cisco. I miss all those nice boxes and wondering what they
look like right now.

During my preparation I found:
- understanding the technology is necessary. Otherwise, the wording in the
exam can mislead us.
- practicing scenarios is necessary. But one particular scenario does not
cover everything. So I tried my own scenario by throwing all possibilities
in to the practice lab. This will help us understanding all features
available.

best regards.
