The staturm number defines the accuracy of the time. The lesser the Value
the better it is and the farther u go from the main soure , it increases.

Pls correct me, if I am wrong.

Also, what is the startumun number for?

nto master <startum> ..... what relationship exists between the statum
server number and the clientS?

NTP auth is working fine, I'm just wondering if I should remove or even add
some commands from the NTP Server/Client or this is just what I need
(assuming I do need to use "source loopback x")

Server:
ntp authentication-key 10 md5 cisco
ntp authenticate
ntp source Loopback0
ntp master 1

Client:
ntp server 192.168.13.1 key 10 source Loopback0 prefer
ntp authentication-key 10 md5 cisco
ntp trusted-key 10

Thanks!!

Hi,

The client side need to use 'ntp server 192.168.1.2 key 1' and 'ntp
trusted-key 1'. The server does not need 'ntp trusted-key 222', the
trusted-key should be placed on the client side and have to match what ever
the key numbers the server can provide, in your config, you have key 1.

The purpose of 'ntp trusted-key 1' will let the client sync up as soon as it

sees the ntp packet with the key 1. The client is the one who decide if it
wants the time to be authenticated, the server can do either way.
