Set Spantree Root... is a macro, that is, a command that issues other commands.
  It attempts to set the bridge priority so that it will be the root. There ar
e some advantages (it figures out the right number on its own). Personally, I m
uch prefer to set the priority directly. The macro does nothing if the bridge
is already the root. You can use 0 priority if you want, but it is not advisab
le, since it limits future options.
