Martin,

Was looking at ur configs and had couple of things to
mention.

1. Ur two routers are not in same area...net 47.0001
and 47.0002 and thus ur area passwords wont have
affect. Also Area-passwords are for routers within the
same area.

Area passwords wont affect Adjacency (this is affected
by interface-authentication only). Even routers within
same area different passwords will form Adjacency as i
have seen. The ISIS database wont be in sych and when
u see debugs it will show u "authentication errors"
when in same area with diff passwords.

2.Area and Domain passwords have affect on the ISIS
database not Adjacency as i understand. The Domain
passwords is only between L2 and L1/L2 routers.

Doyle has good explanation of this...and the following
URL helped me
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/97/isis_authent.html

HTh. As always someone correct me if i am wrong.

Good luck
Annu
