I feel like I've been thrown back to my CCNA days again - i.e. splitting
hairs on whether or not to include the "s" on the end of a command, but Tom
is correct that the proper command is "show ip protocols" - with the "s" on
the end.
I know, usually, "sh ip prot" works but lately I've run into versions of IOS
that have the command "show ip protocol-discovery" as a valid option; thus
requiring you to complete the entire command if you want to check on your
routing protocols.
It appears that this alternate command (un-documented in that form) is an
alias/shortcut/etc. for the command "show ip nbar protocol-discovery." I
ran into it on the T train of 12.1 but not the main-line code.
Interestingly enough, I just upgraded a router to 12.2 code and it isn't in
there - only in its documented form.
...gotta love IOS quirks...
Enjoy,
Ben
