Ok, this isn't strictly CCIE Lab material but I ran into this conversation duri
ng a studygroup and then at work:
I've been told on several occasions by service interworking providers that CDP
should be disabled on remote frame ints because their FRATM switches will choke
on resulting encapsulation failures. Doesn't seem to matter whether it is Tra
nsparent or Translational, (though CDP appears to fail for different reasons, d
epending). I know NewBridge's have this problem.
Also, I have seen one Cisco document where it seems CDP is claimed to be suppor
ted on ATM ints (pg 1) and then not supported (pg 4):
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios121/121cgcr/fun_c/f
cprt3/fcd301c.htm
Added: CWSI docs all say that it will switch from using CDP to ILMI when traver
sing ATM ints.
Anybody know the straight scoop on CDP support in FRATM environments and on ATM
ints like the PAA3?
Thanks!
Mike
