Ludwig,
I have 4 x MC3810 in my home lab. (1 with E1 ATM support, 1 with E1 ATM
& voice, and 2 with fxs VoIP).
You need AVM6, VIM, modules to do VoX.
It will then do VoFR, and local PLAR. For VoIP you need a 12.1 IOS with
a VoIP feature set. (Enterprise plus with ATM and VoIP) a2jsv5. But you
have to have 64Mb RAM (fitted as standard to MC3810V3, or else you need
to upgrade either an MC3810 or an M3810V to 64 Mb then you can run an
12.1 IOS with VoIP feature set) to do VoIP as per a 2610 + NM-2V + VIC-
2FXS + WIC-2T.
It has a similar processor to a 2610 but comes with 2 x sync serial
ports.
If you add a MFT-T1/E1 module you can also do ATM and VoATM (PVCs only
unless you have an ATM switch with E1 modules)
So IMHO a good buy.
You should think of a MC3810 as more equivalent to a 2610 + WIC-2T.
They come up quite frequently, many with voice modules fitted and some
of them have Multiflex Trunk modules. Though many of them seem to have
E&M interfaces rather than fxs, but APM-FXS modules are not that
expensive even if you buy them new.
BTW
If you do decide to upgrade the RAM you may also need to change the
BOOTROM (free issue from Cisco - pay the postage only). You swap the 32
Mb SIMM for a 64Mb SIMM. Assuming that you get a pair of them and
upgrade the memory then you can always put the 2 x 32 Mb RAM that you
removed into a 3640 (which seem to run with just about any memory that
you throw at them, and with 2 x 32 Mb fitted you can probably run them
in 64 bit mode).
