 I have a question for you: Isn't your switch a 1900 instead of a 1924? the 190
0 have a DB-9 connector as the console port and the 1924 have a RJ-45.
Thanks!
Phil.

e replies, this is for
the benefit of those that were having the same problem
of not being able to console to the 1900 switch:

A null modem cable worked; as soon as I plugged it in
the display came right up. As one reply said, "the
package does not say 'null modem', it says pc to pc
communication cable." I didn't have to change any of
the hyperterm settings, but it works with either
Xon/Xoff or hardware flow control.

FYI, the other things that I tried which did not work
included:

Connecting to the switch with two db9
(straight-throughs) and a straight through cat 5
instead of a roll cable - no change.

Disconnecting the console cable from the switch and
hitting the enter key on the hyperterm host.
According to what TAC told one person, the console can
sometimes lock-up so if you do this several times (up
to 100)it will unlock. I tried it at least 50 to 60
times with no change.

Thanks again,
Jack
