The 2500 series routers will use 2 x 8mb flash memory modules in order to upgra
de to the max of 16 mb of flash memory.
Partitioning is a configuration option using the global configuration command -
partition flash 2 8 8
on a 2500 series routers IF you want to have 2 - 8 mb partitions instead of the
standard 1 - 16mb partition which is probably what you want to hold the newer,
larger IOS systems.
Most 2500 series memory can be found on ebay and usually very inexpensive - $25
to $50 bucks.
BTW - you will first need to determine if you have 1 flash simm of 8 mb of flas
h currently,
or do you have 2 flash simms of 4 mb each. Sense you might need 2 - 8mb flash
memory modules if you router
is currently populated with 4 mb flash simms.
Use the "show flash chips" command to see what type of flash memory is installe
d in the router currently - 4mb or 8mb simms.
Email me directly if you need more help.
