Ola,

Since your flash sticks are already corrupted, you can't lose anything by
trying various things. Recommend you start by verifying you really have two
8MB sticks (you may have a 4MB and an 8MB and it will show up as 16MB, and
work if the IOS you wanted was under 12MB, which your's is not). To do
this:

1) set your config-reg to 0x41
2) shutdown and remove one stick of flash
3) powerup (boots from bootflash)
4) "enable" and "show flash"
5) [OPTIONAL] erase flash
6) shutdown; swap sticks; repeat steps 3-5

If both sticks really are 8MB, install them both and leave the config-reg at
0x41. Now check that you have one 16MB partition (vice two 8MB partitions):

8) powerup your sick router; "enable" and "show version"

If the "sh ver" lists two partitions, do:

9) "config t" and "no partition flash"

Now you for sure have a 16MB partition, and your config-reg is still 0x41.
If you have another 2500 router that already has the 12.1.6 IOS you want (by
the way, you may prefer a later version because they are more stable),
connect the ethernet ports back-to-back with a Cat.5 cross-over cord (and of
course configure IP addresses within the same subnet and "no shut" the
ethernet interfaces), and configure the other router as the tftp-server:

7) other router: tftp-server flash:c2500-xxxx-xxx-121-6.bin
8) sick router: "copy tftp flash"

If you don't have another 2500 router with this image, then still load from
your PC-based tftp server via your ethernet port (as opposed to xmodem or
other method). Cisco's tftpserver aplication works great if you haven't
messed with the image (i.e., haven't tried to view the image with MS Word or
some other application).

Good luck. Kym
