Why not remove the virtual-link and do some test and check the result.

I agree with that assessment.

I do a show ip ospf virtual-link and I see that it is up and the state
is
full.

What I don't understand is if the router that I am terminating the
virtual
link on is also doing an area range summary, then why isn't the ospf
router
that is connected to the backbone by the link not receiving the summary?
