I am working on the first lab as we speak. The format is not like the real
test. The real test is much more specific about how they want stuff done.
I have read a couple of hundred pages of this book and there is some pretty
decent material in it. I have also found quite a bit of fluff and obsolete
material.
My hope for this book was to get to see Cisco explain their working in a
friendlier manner. Half of the battle with the lab is understanding exactly
what they want in a task. It is too early for me to conclude whether this
book will help out with that or not.
I had also hoped that the book would cover some of the technologies which
are scarcely covered on CCO like IRB and DLSW filtering techniques. While
both topics are mentioned, the coverage is minor and no more insightful than
the stuff already available.
I was also disappointed that there will be another volume to cover BGP, IPX,
Multicasting, QOS and some of the newer IP features.
Looks like a decent book to add to your arsenal if you don't pay through the
nose for it.
