Now it my turn to answer...
This was the same prob. with my router that the last command that i give was
write erase and that was the last time i saw data on console. when i reboot
it, it normally blink every light but dont give anything on console. this
happened to 3 routers of mind. I thougt it will be a software fault. I tried
everything ...hhmm!! i think there are about 12 to 13 software solutions for
the console to be corrected. but all failed.
One day i was very fadup and open up my router case. in my hands there
was
a PROB. (dont ask me wat is a PROB). I investigated every chip on the router
that are of RS232 and check everyone and came to know that one chip was not
giving output but taking input. I just de-sold it and replace it with other
EIA/TIA232 chip.... and do u know what happened my router get alive again.
WOW!!! that was my day.
I was totally dishearted from doing my CCIE as 3 routers where dead. No
w i
can work on all of the three.
The router rearly get dead but console make it dead. Its my advice not
to
extend custom made cable from the given size as those EIA/TIA232 chips are
very sensitive. they can't bear load greater then 15V.
hope this help!!
