I truly believe in the self-appraisal approach so much that I have a "rating
spreadsheet" for myself. If my assessment is clouded, I call on one of my
local buddies to assess me, but usually, I can tell by looking at a
scenario - if it stymies me, I mark myself down. If I look at it and can
figure out how I would attack it in one way, I give myself a little credit.
If I can see 2 or 3 solutions, I figure I'm ready for action.
