To broadcast anything at layer 3 including OSPF, EIGRP, etc multicasts. That
is to say if you have a map statement and you are running OSPF and you don't
have the broadcast feature enabled it will not form an adjacency with the
other side of the frame unless you use the neighbor statement under OSPF
(then it will unicast to the neighbor).
