You are right, but also remember the ip helper command takes the broadcast
and converts it to a unicast, sent to the specified address. There are I
think 8 or 9 protocols that are converted for you. You can add, or remove if
needed.

As far as I know, your understanding is correct. You should know the types
of traffic forwarded by the IP helper, not all broadcasts are forwarded by
default.
