Ok, forgive me if this is a little basic, but here goes. I have a book on
DLSw but it is a little unclear. As far as NETBIOS goes, DLSw is supposed
to allow a router to announce the ability to reach a certain NETBIOS name or
names to a configured peer. A couple of questions:
1. Will the router learn the NETBIOS names on a LAN dynamically, as long as
the ethernet or token ring interface is configured as a local peer, and the
netbios-exclusive command is not configured?
2. In the output of a show dlsw reachability, when a NETBIOS name is
manually configured and the status is unconfirmed, at what point does it
become confirmed, at the receipt of a broadcast request or reply?
3. If I have 2 Win2K workstations, and I configure an icanreach for their
names on the routers they are attached to, should I be able to ping their
NETBIOS names from each computer?
Like I said, I know it is basic but this is my first time doing any DLSw,
any help is appreciated. Thanks.
