I do some tests with IOS 12.0, here is what I get :-
Let assume you have the following configuration:
router rip
default-infor orgin route-map TEST
Route-map TEST permit 10
set inter loopback 0
You have valid ip address assign for interfaces.
1. If you have a default route in routing table, then the the route-map
TEST is
no effective, ie all interfaces will send update DEFAULT.
2. If you don't have any default route in the routing table, then the
set interface
of the route-map will be effective.
This sound like sending update to your neighbor router that you are
orginate the default route.
May be someone can add more...
