Hi Sanjay,
For OSPF, paramters must match on neighbors, in most case, neighbor are
in the same subnet that you define, the neighbor must form to exchange
LSA, for direct serial link, you have two interconnected interface(one
from each router, any changes
on one side must also change at the other side.
Now, if you have a frame relay cloud, you may have two or more
interfaces connecetd in the
same subnet, then these interfaces must have the same parameters.
Next, is the brocadcast devices, all braodcast devices that in the same
subnet configure
with OSPF must have the same parameters.
Use show ip ospf neig to verify.
Regards
Parry

Sanjay,
Those intervals are for the routers to achieve FULL
neighbor status. It does not affect all interfaces in an area,
only those that are connected (ie serial interfaces).
If you also connected the ethernet interfaces,
those intervals would then have to match, but still independant
of the serial interfaces.

Subject: OSPF question
I have 2 routers connected back to back serially. Both routers have
ethernet
interfaces and both routers are running OSPF, all intefraces belong to
the
same area. If I change the transmit interval delay and hello interval on
the
serial interfaces that connect the 2 routers, do I need to change this
on
all
interfaces ?
What I am trying to get to is that in OSPF, does all interface in the
common
area should be have the same hello and transmit delay settings or is it
only
the interfaces that are involved (in this case the serial interfaces on
both
routers)?
thanks,
