That would be a neat trick.

I don't think it's possible. The PIX is mostly just an Intel PC, true, but
there's one crucial difference: the flash card. That flash card also
contains the PIX ID which is keyed for licensing purposes. In other words,
if you don't have that flash card with a serial number matching your
license key, you don't have a working PIX.

I'd consider buying a PIX 501. It runs POS (PIX O/S - now we know why
Cisco never abbreviates their PIX Operating System that way), PDM, and can
be managed with CSPM. A 10-user DES box will run about $450 retail.
