One suggestion I may offer is to double-check the IOS version your running.
I ran into this problem when I loaded an IOS version that was not within
specs for memory and once the config was loaded, it did not have enough
memory to function properly. The fix was to downgrade the IOS to a different
version within specs. One way to test this, boot into rommon, change the
register to boot without loading the configuration from NVRAM and see if it
functions then. Even if this isn't the issue, booting to rommon may offer
some additional insight into the problem. (Hardware versus Software)
HTH and Good Luck!

Try setting the serial port on your PC (assuming it's Windows) to not use
FIFO buffers. One of my older 2500s did the same thing until I did this.
The setting is under advanced, I believe. HTH...

Hi,
Lets see who can crack this !!
This topic is discussed many time but i didn't get any answer then solved my
problem,anyhow I have 3 routers , two 4500 and one 4700 . non of the console
works. When i power-on the routers they give me the booting on the console
but at the end where i have to start it dont accept anything. All of my
routers gets this problem with in a week. I have applied the following
solution.
1- ram change
2- flash change
3- baudrate change
4- flow control none
5- scrollock toggle
6- hitting space bar at booting to get in to ROMMON
7- nothing on AUX port, dont see anything there too. (This is just because
router didnt finshed booting as the router is on
asking for the initial config.)
8- plugging in and out rapidily when booting.
9- tried hyperterminal, secureCRT, tera term
10- changed the console cable and converters at the ends.
Any more solution from the group... lets see...
