RTR_A (area 0) -- RTR_B (area 1) --- RTR_C (area 0,2)

          Virtual Link through area 1

If the VL is used to connect an area through ANOTHER area, then that router
is also in area 0. So RTR-C is an ABR (which by definition has to be
connected to Area 0.)

Common mistake when enabling authentication in area 0. You tend to forget
about the loner router stuck out in your WAN somewhere.
