You need a time interval to plug into the formula Tc=Bc/CIR. This should
get your ultimate answer.

Subject: Cisco 7500 hardware configuration and performance

I have a customer with a Cisco 7505, RSP2 (128MB DRAM), VIP4-50 and 8 T1
card. Currently the run BGP with 2 providers receiving customer routes
from
both. The are looking at a DS-3 interface. They are asking me if the
need
to upgrade to an RSP4+ or an RSP8. Currently the don't have CPU
utilization
problems. What are the points at which the RSP4+ should replace an
RSP2.
They are just doing Internet routing.

In my research I found:
        Process switched Fast switched
RSP2 5,000pps 220,000pps
RSP4+ 8,000pps 345,000pps

This is 64k packets. What is the pps for 64k packets through a T1?
