Just a thought...

Pick up an 802.11 access point for a few hundred dollars and configure the
Ethernet port on your terminal server for that network. That way you can do
anything you want, including getting some sunshine outside, or bringing your
laptop instead of a novel to the bathroom...

Is there a distance limitation on a roll cable, or would you follow standard
Cat 5 rules?
I cut one about 110' to reach my laptop downstairs and it worked fine. now I
can access my lab anywhere in the house. Just when you thought the wife
couldn't love you more.
