Group,

Having had personal dealings with Mr. Lorne Braddock, my opinion of the man
is that he's taking the CCIE benchmark down a dark alley. He always denied
flat the one day lab ( pre-announcement ) suggesting people that put forward
these rumours should be held to account legally. Next thing I knew, the
1-day lab was announced. I get the feeling that this change has been rushed
and the justification for it doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

Is there a REAL reason why this lab has been introduced ? I simply cannot
believe Cisco care about an candidate being "out of the field" for 2 days
instead of 1, or this will allow more candidates thru the system due to a
backlog. If that's the case why don't Cisco simply open up another testing
site ?

I know things had to change regarding the lab, especially the way the
marking was performed to make it more consistent. However Lorne has thrown
the baby out of the bathwater. Also, asking Bruce Caslow to take a "beta" of
the new 1 day exam and give it his approval was in my view a desperate
measure to try and justify the new exam.

I hope I'm wrong in my views and that the respect for a CCIE having gone
thru the new 1 day lab is the same as for candidates that have gone thru the
2 days. However, I really feel that even if technically the new lab is as
tough, peoples perceptions of the CCIE will decrease.

In short, if it ain't broke don't fix it !!
