definitly. We had multicast streams coming off of Cidera and IBEAM
Content Delivery Networks (CDN's). Hitting your normal links to get
to cnn, msnbc, etc were hopeless. But we were serving up 300k full
video/audio streams off of our satellite CDN's via PIM-Sparse.
Also using distributed load technology like that of Akamai, really helps
in situation like this for sites like CNN. Unfortunatly, Daniel Lewin,
Akamai's CTO, was on board one of the planes that struck the WTC. The
technology he created is fundenmantal to network operations in times like
today...........
