Had the same thing happen when one of the tech that works for me configured
too many buffers on the router. We were using 3640's to interface with modem
banks for async remotes and when he configured large buffers on it it would
just keep booting giving some message about extending memory or something
like that.
I would try to boot without a config (2142) and then see if it's something
funky like that. I may not be your problem but it worked for me!
