This thread is relevant because there ARE women who read this list, and need
the support. Most of the women I've known in IT stop trying at some point
well beneath their potential because of the snotty attitude from a small
percentage of hostile and very vocal men - the higher these women went the
more undeserved hostililty they received. Most men don't have the snotty
attitude, but the ones that do are loud enough to ruin it for everyone.
Norma's story is wonderful. Just congratulate her, and be a good sport.
