The default IPX ping is the Cisco IPX ping -- you should try using the
Novell standard echo for pinging servers and clients:

Router(config)#ipx ping-default ?
  cisco use cisco echoes for IPX ping
  diagnostic use Diagnostic Request/Response for IPX ping
  novell use Novell Standard echoes for IPX ping
