I wouldn't recommend it, depending on the job market in your area.

And obviously your employer isn't actively seeking Silver or Gold status.

That was me, addressing one factor of CCIEmanship from one perspective.
I was not trying to advocate that anyone should quit a job in anticipation
of becoming CCIE, merely pointing out some of the repercussions of Cisco's
"anti-raiding" policies. It's fairly narrow in scope, and probably less of
a factor now than a year ago.

Money isn't everything. If you like your job, working conditions, etc.
stay there. If not, you'll be more valuable elsewhere with the CCIE,
regardless of whether your new employer is a Cisco reseller who needs
your number to make their quota or not, and regardless of whether they
are forced to wait six months to count you.
