Hi all,
This is one email every CCIE candidate will be glad to send. With the grace
of God I passed the exam. I took it on the 9th and 10th of this month at
brussels and probably just finished before Gregory finished at RTP.
This was my first attempt and it was not easy at all. the stress and tension
was so high that you could cut through it with a knife.
Everybody gives advice on what to study and how to study and so there is no
need doing that, I will do something different. I will tell you how I dealt
with the pressure.
First of all has anybody watched the film entrapment, with Sean connery and
Catherine zeta-jones. before they went to steal anything, they had to
practice to perfection. Sean was so strict with her just to make sure they
could get the timing right. if they could not do it at a relaxed environment
then please what makes you think they could have been able to make it at the
real place!!!.
Same application with the exams, if you don't have a plan that you work
towards, you will surely have problems at the exams. You must have a plan, a
tactic, that you must adhere too and what to do if it does not go according
to plan. you must stick to it what ever happens. Even if you hear the other
candidates tapping away on their keyboards, STICK TO YOUR PLAN!!!. If your
plan was tried and tested at home, trust me it will hold on that day.
Secondly, if it is your first attempt, don't listen to all the myths people
come out with. Not only will it add to the tension but you will start
doubting yourself. I had a lot of people tell me Andy don't worry, people
don't make it on their first attempt, oh, its all or nothing, oh, did you do
it this way or that way and so on and so forth, that's all rubbish, YOU
DON'T NEED NEGATIVE VIBES STAY AWAY FROM THEM. Make sure you are ready
before you take the exam.
Finally, you need to find away to keep calm and maintain your confidence.
Some people turn to smoking to calm themselves and may be it works but you
need to maintain your confidence and calm.
I am a Born-again christian and I believe in the word of God. And there are
so many verses in the bible that promise you peace, both in your spirit and
in your mind. During the exam and the waiting period before you know you
have made it or not, (this includes first & second day) I was as cool as a
cucumber, by the grace of God. In fact the other person who made it was
like, how come you are so confident and cool. God was my confidence and I
believe in him. I trusted God when in his word he said "the Holy Spirit
shall remind you of all thing", and believe me I did not forget a single
thing at all because he kept on reminding me of everything even when I was
almost finished, he just reminded me of what I had forgotten on page 1 and
2. On day 1, I did not drop any points. and on day 2, the only places I lost
points on where the places I had no Idea about.
So find what gives you peace of mind. If you ask me you know what I will
tell you!!.
Wish you all the best, and don't give up. Special thanks to Paul for the
groupstudy. I have been on this list for more than two years and I remember
when Paul said that the reason why he called it groupstudy.com was because
studygroup had already been taken!!. well which ever one it is it has helped
alot of us. Thumbs up to you Paul :-)
Regards,
Andy Nwebube CCIE #7980
