Well, what a morning. A friend of mine loaned me a ATLAS 550 from his work
for me to practice ISDN with. I also have two 1750's with BRI interfaces. I
did this a few weeks ago with frame-relay, and got it working in about hour or
two. The guy I am loaning it from, knows little more than myself about the
config of the device.
About 8 am this morning I thought no problem, at 1 pm I still didn't have any
spid's working. It really pissed me off, because I was (working with the
config already on it) looking at the ATLAS screen, at the settings, and my
routers refused to take the settings.
Here's the details,
Going by the settings under dial plan, under user cncts. It has the settings
of 555-1234 and 555-8000 in the dial plan. Under network, it has National
Switch type selected. Under area code, it has 510. Following the menu's
below 555-1234 and 555-8000 it has a spid's listing of:
510-555-12340001
510-555-12350001
510-555-80000001
510-555-80010001
On the routers, I have isdn switch type basic-ni. I cut and pasted from the
ATLAS screen to isdn spid1 and isdn spid2 on the routers.
No matter what I did, or what format I tried to use, the routers would come up
to layer two, on show isdn status , but would say invalid spid. I could
enable debug isdn q921 and clear the bri interface, and watch the invalid spid
error message in debug. This drove me nuts.
I tried adding a one in front of the spid, 151055512340001, then a zero,
051055512340001. Tried taking the 510 area code off, tried taking the 0001
postfix off, etc. Always got the same message. Spid sent, invalid spid.
Tried the 5ess switch type, tried using no spids, multi router reboots, etc.
I've decided that it must be the config on the ATLAS. Could someone who uses
this equipment please tell me how to fix this problem. The BRI module is in
slot four. If you can attach a similar config, I'll tftp it up.
The one thing I did notice was that the network cncts menu, right next to the
user cncts menu under the dial plan menu was empty. Is this normal?
If you know what I'm doing wrong, Please Advise. Screen shots are welcome.
