Are you the DCE end??? Unless you are, you won't be placing a clock
rate on the interface.

The bandwidth statement is most expected when the line is less than T1
rate.

Wan interface default bandwidth is T1.

Subject: Clock Rate question

Basic Question (I hope)...

Does the clock rate command specify the speed of the link? I know that
the
bandwidth command is used only for higher layer protocols like OSPF and
EIGRP for metric calculation, and has no real impact on the speed of the
link.

I've read that the clock rate command does specify the speed (in bits
per
second), but here's my problem: The carrier (Cablevision Lightpath) does
not
provide clocking on their T's. So I had one of the routers provide
clock.
Here were my choices:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
ACL-MC3810(config-)#clock rate ?
        Speed (bits per second)
  1200
  2400
  4800
  9600
  19200
  38400
  56000
  64000
  72000
  125000
  148000
  250000
  500000
  800000
  1000000
  1300000
  2000000
  4000000

<300-4000000> Choose clockrate from list above
  line Use line clock
  network Use PLL clock

-------------------------------------------------------------------

As you can see nothing matches exactly with a full T1. 148000 seems to
be
the best match. Is this correct? Does this mean that the speed will be
1.48
Mb/s?

Thanks in advance. Any clock rate information is appreciated. CCO is
kind of
weak on this subject.
