>From memory this goes back to the initial launch of the 2500 series when the
hardware was "crippled" to only allow a certain "feature set". The PCMCIA
slot allowed you to "enable" the router for a higher "feature set" than the
box was originally bought with. I think they found that it was unpopular
and a pain in the neck to admin ister so dropped it, however the PCMCIA slot
is still there.
