I am actually a new member to groupstudy, although I found the archive
useful at times in preparing for my successfull 1st lab attempt. As luck
would have it, my 1st post gets to be one of this happy nature.

Like I mentioned above, I passed on 1st attempt in Halifax this Thursday.
Steve the proctor was helpful and fair throughout all of it, although his
calm attitude didn't diminish the fact that it was the most stressful 2 days
of my life.

I won't provide a list of things to do/study, because I believe each person
preparing for the lab has their strong areas and weak areas, and to try to
blanket everyone with one (work on this, work on that) list would be
pointless. If you're slow, get fast. If you're knowledge is wide, get deep.
Deep, get wide. For me, the worst parts were interpreting the questions and
the stress.

Keep in mind that part of the point of such a rigorous exam is the
preparation- you'll know more than you ever did before. I passed the written
in October, read Caslow, Hutnik, and CCO (I'm probably one of few who didn't
touch Halabi/Doyle, nor did I get the ccbootcamp labs, although Marc is a
friend of a friend and I'm sure they're quite helpful- it was a $$$ thing
for me). My home lab was weak- 2 3640s and a 2611, ethernet only. I did get
some free MentorLab credits from Cisco, which I used to validate my approach
and knowledge. Above all else my work experience was the best preparation I
could find. I consult for a reseller, which also happens to run a Data
Center in Detroit that I help to architect. Truly, that is the best
preparation I could think of.

Good luck to everyone!!
