Well, I'm not really sure, but You don't have a choice.
I am taking a guess that the vlan creation is ment to denote the edge of a
broadcast domain. Seeing each vlan represents a RIng (MAU) that kinda makes
sence. I am further guessing that the bridge needs a sperate VLAN to
represent a Virtual Ring. This seems to make sence as if you looked a
router doing bridging of more than two Rings, you need a virtual ring.
Again I'm just spectulating.
