Hey group,
Well, the shock is still setting in a little bit after my first (and
now I can say only!) attempt. I just got back to the hotel after phoning
just about everyone in my cell phone directory and driving around the RTP
Cisco campus to take some pictures. It's a beautiful place.
I met some really great guys attempting the lab. I was sorry to see
them leave before completing it. The proctors were fair, as has been said
many times before. I felt really good about the first day, reasonably sure
about the second day and a little less sure by the time I got to
troubleshooting. But, alas, I walked out with a smile ear to ear and that
little yellow sticky note. I'm still a little giddy.
I took the same certification evolution as most - (as you can see by
my sig). I feel that helped not only in my preparation for the material,
but in keeping me progressing forward with milestones to judge my progress.
I used the same study materials as most - Halabi, Doyle, Caslow, fatkid,
ccbootcamp, cisco's website, etc... I also have a study partner, Ken Yeo,
who I would like to thank for helping me understand some things that were
unclear and helping me keep an optimistic attitude about the whole process.
Besides getting study partner, my biggest recommendation, which most
of you have probably already surpassed, is to set a schedule for yourself
and _write it down_. It's amazing how easy it is to put off a goal if you
don't have it in writing.
So, now I'm off to have a nice steak and _relax_. Good luck to
everyone in their endeavor and I hope to hear from you with your success
story soon!
By the way, if anyone knows of companies hiring or good headhunters in
Chicago, please let me know. I'm looking to make a move as soon as the
right opportunity pops up.
