Just beware of recursive routing in any tunnel situation

Treat tunnels (GRE or IPIP) as regular point to point interfaces. That's
all they are. They just don't have a physical componant. In that sense,
they can be used for routing protocols, just like a T1 or OC3. The only
quirk with tunnels is that if the tunnel destination is learned from the
routing protocol running across the tunnel, then you'll see the tunnel
dropping, since it's path to the tunnel destination is through the tunnel...
which is a recursive loop, and everything dies.

But, other than that, there's no problems with running an RP across the
tunnel interface.

If you're talking a VPN tunnel (IPSEC, etc.), then it's different. That
kind of tunnel shouldn't support an RP.
