Doug,
"Break" is machine-dependent. On most of my laptops, the break key does not
work in Hyperterm, but one laptop does. For all the rest, I use ProComm+
whenever I need to recover a password. Then I switch back to Hyperterm for
normal day-to-day router programming.
Also, in case you missed someone's listing last week: you can program the
ESC key into your console and vty lines by adding "escape 27"; it won't
"break" during boot, but will "escape" out of a lengthy traceroute or ping.
