three questions about timer(release 2)

hi guys,
  in my pratice lab, i have met two questions about timer.
  1.ospf timer,
    R3 is too busy,so we need r3's spf process
interval no less than 30 seconds.
   my answer:
       router ospf 1
         timer spf 5 30
    but i know this answer is wrong.

  2.spanning tree timer
   in catalyst 5002 switch,set the spanning tree
maxage 30 seconds.
   my answer:
      set spantree maxage 30
    but this answer is still wrong!

  3.in spanning tree,what relationship about
 diameter/bpdu hello/fwddelay/maxage??
   I know a formula in default state:
    maxage=hello*3+hello*diameter
   have any formula in no default state??
