Lab 19 BGP/OSPF Redistribution

I've done this lab a couple of times now and must have missed this the first
time around. This will only make sense (if it does at all!) to those who
have this lab so apologies up front.

You are asked to redistribute OSPF into BGP on R2 which is in AS 40. R8
recieves these BGP routes from AS47 and AS40 and puts the routes into its
routing table as EBGP learn't routes which have a lower admin distance than
the IGRP learn't OPSF routes which were redistributed on R6. (Hope that
makes sense)

Now R8 has a neigbor statement for r2 to it's interface which is now in R8s
routing table as an EBGP route where previously it was an IGRP route. What
happens now on R8 is the BGP routes get withdrawn and reinstated at
intervals. Debugs show that bgp invalidates the routes because it has an
invalid path to the R2 neighbor, the IGRP route to R2 comes back into the
table which then accepts updates from R2 and so on and so on.

The provided solutions don't hint at the problem and there are many ways
around this that I've played around with which fix this i.e filtering the
140.4.x.x routes into R8 via BGP. I just wanted to know if anyone had these
problems as well.

I have to say this is a great lab with lots of little tricks.

TIA

Bob
