Well I finally made it. I won't take up too much time, I know everyone is inten
tly looking for that secret to passing the test. Well the secret is there is no
secret. It is all of the things everyone on this page has been talking about.
A lot of hard work, practice and experience. The books like Caslow, Halabi, Doy
le, and to a lesser extent CCIE Study guide. The ECP1 class was awesome thanks
Fred.

If the old saying you learn more from your mistakes than you will ever learn f
rom your successes is true, then I feel I have learned more through this experi
ence than anything in my career, I failed four times before I passed, so I had
plenty of opportunity to learn from my mistakes.

Some lessons learned: Hang in there it is possible, I am living proof. Learn to
relax when taking the test, whatever technique works for you. If you feel your
self getting stressed stop get up and take a 2 minute breather, two minutes is
not going to make or break you. If you feel the temptation to start typing the
minute you start your exam resist. At the beginning you do not know what the ne
twork is going to look like. So take the time to find out; completely read the
test, draw it out as completely as possible.

You should plan on finishing the test early if you want to pass. Because you ne
ed the extra time to avoid another important mistake, and that is to check your
work completely then check it completely again. Jose and Cathy in San Jose wer
e very professional, and they run an amazing operation. Finally I want to thank
my wife I would have never done this without her. She never wavered in her con
fidence of me, or tried to discourage me from fighting on. Time to have some fu
n.
