I have just compared the processor board ID shown below to the sticker on
the router. It is indeed the same. I guess this ties to the motherboard
but, depending on Cisco's rework procedure, you cannot be sure the numbers
will be the same unless you know the router is brand new or you are aware of
its history in so far that it hasn't had a mainboard swapout sometime in its
life.
I would think that if a router is sent back to Cisco, and a maiboard needs
replacing, the serial sticker will be changed, the old serial number
"retired" and any history database updated linking the old/new serial number
together.

It might be in the 12.1T train. I am running 12.2 on this box, 12.1(3)T on
another 1601 and that has the command.
