Route-maps like anything else have a specific role. If you start assigning
route-maps to block things which did not need to be blocked you would be
judged as a candidate that does not have a complete understanding of their
use. You would almost certainly be docked points for such behavior. You
do not need to use route-maps at every distribution point. There are
occasions when the use of a distribution-list or prefix-list may be a better
choice than a route-map too.
