I have had this problem before. I was told by my CCIE instructor that this
is because of the ISDN code in the IOS.
It will only work in a certain way.
he advised to keep it in a template before the lab cause ISDN DDR works only
with a certain config.

I'm trying to setup legacy isdn ddr between 2 routers with pap
authentication. the connection drops out unless I configure ppp pap
sent-username on both sides. Changing to chap - everything is ok. Anyone
knows why I need to have this command in order for this to work, I thought
it was optional?
