Greetings -
Simply as you've stated it, you could go either way - but assuming that you wan
t
to run a routing protocol over it (especially OSPF), interface selection is
important as it determines configuration.
I usually go with point-to-multipoint everwhere (from the sub-int perspective)
and either NBMA (default) or point-to-multipoint for the IP OSPF NETWORK TYPE
parameter. I would suggest knowing how to do it under all combinations however
-
pt-2pt, multipoint, physical, and OSPF types as well NBMA, pt-2-pt, multipoint,
broadcast.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Jason

Subject: FrameRelay subinterface question
Here's the scenerio...
I have 4 routers accross a Frame Cloud. R2, R3, R4 and R5. I need to configure
R3 using two sub-interfaces. One sub interface for the connection to R5 and
the other sub interface for the connection to R2 and R4. Configuring
sub-interfaces on R2, R4 or R5 is not allowed. My question is, do I need to
configure point-to-point for the subinterface that is going to R5 and
multipoint for the other subinterface which connects to R2 and R4. ? or both
needs to be point to point. ?
thanks,
Sanjay
