Q) I am trying to connect a CISCO router as a comm server to the arrowpoint
console with just a RJ-45 connection but it does work, what is the PIN out
require to connect these devices.

****************************************************************************
********************************
FULL cable (includes ROLLOVER and Arrowpoint PINOUT)

FULL Cable (includes rollover) & Is reversible
-----Comm-server-side -----------------------------------Arrowpoint-side----

Just an adapter cable (you will need to use a external Rollover Cable with
this setup - Ideal for connenction from Cisco Router as Comm Server from
Octopus cable handoff [rollover-DTE])

Cable from Rollover DTE side to Arrowpoint PINOUT.

***Warning Cable is NOT reversable each side MUST go to the Correct
equipment.

Just the Adapter
NOT REVERSIBLE!!!!
(after external rollover)
-----Comm-server-side
DTE-----------------------------Arrowpoint-side------------
---Color----------Purpose --- PIN # ---------------PIN
#----Purpose---------Color--
white-orange-----RTS-----------1-- --1------------------white

-TxD----------3------------------------2-------RxD---
-GND----------5------------------------7-------GND---
-RxD----------6------------------------3-------TxD---
Q) When do I use which cable?

A) Various way to connect to the Arrowpoint Console port.

1) Use in this architecture from a comm server async port to Arrowpoint
console:

  Comm Server Router
     |
Octopus cable (which gives Rollover DTE hand off)
     |
  Female-Female RJ45 adapter
     |
  Arrowpoint Adapter cable (PINOUT above)
     |
  CSS-150 console port.
OR

2) Use in this architecture from a PC's DB-9 Pin Com port to Arrowpoint
console:

  PC Com Port
     |
Standard DB-9 Pin to RJ-45 adapter (Terminal adapter)
     |
Cisco Console Cable (Rollover cable - usually Black or light Blue, and
flat)
     |
  Female-Female RJ45 adapter
     |
  Arrowpoint Adapter cable (PINOUT above)
     |
  CSS-150 console port.
OR

3) if connecting the OLDER Cisco router as a Comm Server:

Comm Server Router (RJ-45 Female port)
     |
  Full Cable (see above)

     |
  CSS-150 console port.

ALSO make sure to configure the routers Line interface for the appropriate
port
(9600/8/1/None/no flowcontrol):

router#config t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
router(config)#line 16
router(config-line)#stopbits 1
router(config-line)#flowcontrol none
OR

4) Use the cables that came with the Arrowpoint itself. (only for PC com
port to Arrowpoint console)

* Straight through cable * Custom DB-9 to RJ-45 adapter
