Guys,
I know that this question has had considerable lip service but I would like to
hear current opinions.
If you are connecting to a router through a terminal server and you get
garbage on your screen, what is the best approach to solving the problem?
Would you immediately go to the password recovery procedure in hopes that
everything was changed in the config? IF you got garbage there on the way up
you would know to go back and try different line speeds.
Would you try setting different speeds on you terminal server port in hopes
that the the changes were made in the config-register on the router? This
could prove to be futile if flow control or number of bits or parity changed.
Is there any indication that anyone has noticed would help you recognize the
problem and solution under each set of circumstances?
Just from my experience with this sort of thing, I would say initiate the
password recovery sequence first. 2500s are really slow so if there is a
better approach....
TIA
